Go Shark's Fin-Less!

Studies indicate that people are more interested in sustainability issues than ever before, to support the objective of generating awareness Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie is proud to associate with Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) to promote awareness and participate in a campaign ‘Fins Best Left On Sharks’ to its valued wedding clients by promoting menus that exclude Shark fin soup.

MNS has been campaigning against shark fin soup because this most prolific ocean fish is in the danger of being wiped out from our waters. Apart from its role as a biological indicator, sharks also play an important role in the food chain and well-being of our oceans. One step towards protecting this amazing creature is to stop the consumption of shark’s fin and the inhumane killing of sharks for its fin. As such, MNS lauds the efforts of the Hotel in coming up with a program to discourage people to include Shark Fin Soup on their menu especially during wedding dinners.

To support the campaign Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie strongly advocates a menu without a shark fin item to its Wedding clients, in lieu the hotel is offering complimentary upgrade to Duplex Suite and a complimentary buffet dinner for a couple at its multi cuisine restaurant. Additionally, Malaysian Nature Society will also provide a certificate of appreciation for opting for a Shark’s Fin free banquet menu for their wedding.

Master Chef's Cooking Class for MIGF 2010

16th October 2010, Saturday - In conjunction with the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival 2010, Chef Mike Yip conducted a cooking class for all Japanese food lovers.

Itinerary for the day was a full lesson on maki rolls, and a Master Chef demonstration on how Wagyu Negi Taro Tataki (one of the dishes from Chef Mike's Festival Menu) is prepared.
All participants enjoyed a traditional Japanese lunch personally prepared by Chef Mike, and brought home a maki/sushi starter kit that included chef hats, handouts, personalised Fu-Rin aprons and all the ingredients needed for them to test their skills at home!
